Social Networking

Privacy Issues

While social networking (or activity on sites like MySpace and Facebook) is common among people of all ages and many health care students and practitioners use such sites, privacy is important.

Future schools and employers are searching for information about applicants online. Beware of what you post and make sure to set your profile to private so you have to accept individuals as "friends" before they can see your profile.

Patients also use social networking sites so doctors (or interns or residents) and health care practitioners must also beware of posting inappropriate information you wouldn't want your patients to see.
