This collection of books address the topics of material culture, place-making/placeness, folk-art, and authenticity. Some of the books address these topics directly, while others provide a framework in which to contemplate larger issues and ideas. Some are books I've read (sometimes more than once), others are books I hope to read, and others still seemed to fit the bill.  Please let me know which ones you found useful or submit suggestions to be added to the collection.
