Genomics: Genomics at UF

Centers and Institutes

Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research (ICBR):  ICBR at UF houses Bioinformatics, Next-Gen Sequencing, as well as the Gene Expression and Genotyping core groups to help with your research endeavors.

The University of Florida Genetics Institute: "promotes and enhances interactive genetics research across the UF campus."

The Powell Gene Therapy Center: "merges molecular genetics research and health care delivery by developing new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of human diseases that involve gene transfer."

The Center for Pharmacogenomics  is a part of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Florida. Its main areas of focus are to "study the genetic basis of variability in drug efficacy and toxicity"; "investigation of disease-gene associations"; and "educate the University of Florida Health Science community on pharmacogenomics."

Personalized Medicine at UF PathLabs offers testing services to  assist referring physicians in understanding patients' genetic makeup and guide them in prescribing more effective treatments

Degree Programs

Graduate Program in Genetics and Genomics This program’s physical heart is in the brand-new Genetics Institute Building- a multi-college, multi-faceted research center- and is designed to give students a solid, interdisciplinary foundation in the first year, with opportunities for specialization in the second year and beyond.

Interdisciplinary Program in Biomedical Sciences (IDP) This is a Graduate program emphasizing biomedical laboratory research, through a core curriculum and specialization in one of six advance concentrations: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Immunology and Microbiology, Molecular Cell Biology, Neuroscience, and Physiology and Pharmacology.

Animal Molecular and Cellular Biology Graduate Program (AMCB) This program offers Master's and PhD tracks and prepares students to conduct research and teaching in animal agriculture across a broad range of animal species.  Research focus include Molecular Biology & Physiology, Nutrition, and Breeding & Genetics.
