Citation Management Software

Citation management software makes it possible to store your citations so that you can easily access them and format them for writing. This software can assist you to develop bibliograpies, cite refererences in text, and build a personal collection of useful literature.

UF provides FREE access to RefWorks and EndNote Web for students, faculty and staff.

RefWorks is web-based, but you must use the library VPN for off-campus access. The user name and password should not be the same as your Gatorlink user name and password.

EndNote Web
EndNote Web is web-based, and you must be within the  UF IP address for registration (use the VPN or proxy service if you are off campus). This resource requires a secure password when you register.

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) guide to proper citation formats for medical and scientific materials.


The ICMJE Uniform Requirements are followed by many biomedical and scientific journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine.


The American Medical Association citation style is used by many journals, including JAMA.


Links to a variety of manuscript style guides.


The instructions for authors provided on journal websites typically specifiy which citation style should be used. If you have questions, please contact your liaison librarian.
