Developing a decision-making foundation for Smathers Libraries

Current Projects

This page highlights some of the current projects the assessment librarian is working on.

2017 Overnight Study

While the survey gathered demographic, usage frequency, and preferred features, the key question asked of respondents was to indicate the space preferred for overnight study use (from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m.). Of the 5,585 complete responses collected, over 66% of respondents indicated a preference for Library West; over 20% would use either space; and, almost 12% indicated a preference for Newell Hall.

2018 Overnight Study

The data presented in the Final report was collected from January 28, 2018 through Saturday, March 17, 2018. This report represents six weeks of data collection that occurred each night, at both Newell Hall and Library West, from 1 a.m. through 8 a.m. The study team counted each facility once per hour, alternating between each.

Education Library Pre-Renovation

This study focused on usage and accessibility of the Education Library. Interesting statistics were uncovered through this survey.

  • 99% of respondents knew about the Education Library, regardless of its location on the edge of campus
