Welcome! My name is Michelle Nolan (any/all pronouns) and I am the chemistry librarian at Marston Science Library. I came to UF as an undergrad in 2009 and I never left. I am passionate about working with students and helping with your library research.
In this library research guide, you will find recommendations on searching for chemistry sources, information about using the UF libraries, and tips for honing your literature research skills. Finding chemistry information is a skill that takes time to develop. At all points along your research journey, I'm here to help.
Welcome! I'm Michelle Nolan. I'm the Chemical Science librarian at Marston Science Library.
This library research guide was designed to help jumpstart your search for chemistry information. Along the left hand side or across the top if you're on mobile, you'll see a list of pages that include instructions about how to use the UF Libraries, how to search for information, how to evaluate sources, and more. On each of these pages, I have tried to give some context about the pros and cons of each tool so that you can choose the one that best meets your needs. I've also integrated videos and media throughout the guide so that as you explore, you can learn more search tips and pick up some other tools to put in your toolbox.
As your librarian, I'm here to help with all of your information needs while you're a student at UF. I offer training on specific databases, I can help you build searches, we can have a one-on-one meeting to talk about your research project and what keywords might help you get better results. I can also help track down difficult data and citations. Basically, whatever you need, I'm here to help you get it.
Please reach out to me at any time using the contact tab on this guide. You can book an appointment directly or reach out by email. Meeting with students is my favorite part of my job, so please don't hesitate to reach out and let me know how I can help you. Happy searching!
