About Michele R. Tennant
Michele R. Tennant provides Liaison Librarian services to the: She is the HSC Libraries' genetics, molecular biology and bioinformatics information specialist. As Bioinformatics Librarian, she provides basic instruction in the use of bioinformatics resources and databases, particularly those available from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). Michele currently teaches in a variety of academic classes and programs including undergraduate genetics, biophysical chemistry, and GMS6014 - 'Applications of Bioinformatics to Genetics'. She also teaches a number of 'stand-alone' database classes upon request. Michele organizes the UF Genetics Institute seminar series, serves as a member of the organizing committee for the annual UFGI conference (Florida Genetics) and leads the UFGI's web team. Her research interests include the information seeking behavior of geneticists and bioinformaticians, the role of the library in bioinformatics education and user support, and the improvement of library services via liaison and other specialized programs. Michele was named the 2005 Academic Medical Librarian of the Year by the Medical Library Association. Education: MLIS, Library and Information Science ~ University of California, Los Angeles

Provide information consultations to assist students, faculty & staff with literature searching and
other information gathering
Develop and teach library orientations or information-related classes based on your recommendations
Present at department meetings or journal clubs
Create customized online interactive tutorials for use by on- and off-campus faculty, staff & students
Conduct literature searches (including IACUC) for HSC faculty & staff
Take your recommendations for expanding electronic and print resources for the HSC Libraries' collection
Collaborate with you on publications and grants
