The Information Point, or InfoPoint, is the first place that users encounter assistance when entering Library West. This service desk is located at the head of the escalators on the second floor, at the east end of the Circulation Desk.
When working at the InfoPoint, you will triage users' questions, immediately answering directional and simple reference questions. More complex reference questions should be referred to the third floor Research Assistance Desk (or other campus library reference desks) where librarians and staff have more space and resources to work with users needing indepth consultation.
The InfoPoint is equipped with a phone, a computer, access to the Circulation Desk printer, and a rolling file cart with handouts at your disposal.
Recording Reference Statistics
Please record any questions that you have from users in the Ref Stats online statistics database. Preformatted questions are availble to catch quick transactions, such as directions to the stacks, "where is the photocopier" and others. You do not need to record any transaction where you have checked out an item such as a book, laptop or study room.
