Feminist Research in Practice by
Feminist Research in Practice is a supplementary text for undergraduate and graduate research methods courses. The book opens with a detailed examination of feminist methodologies and sociological research methods, followed by twelve chapters offering an in-depth analysis of six research projects. Invited scholars have each contributed two paired chapters: the first is data-driven and includes a description of methods and findings as well as analysis, allowing contributors to highlight their application of feminist methods and approaches in their work. Researching with Care by
What are the implications of caring about the things we research? How does that affect how we research, who we research with and what we do with our results? Proposing what Joan C. Tronto has called a 'paradigm shift' in research thinking, this book invites researchers across disciplines and fields of study to do research that thinks and acts with care. The authors draw on their own and others' experiences of researching, the troubles they encounter and the opportunities generated when research is approached as a caring practice. Care ethics provides a guide, from starting out, designing and conducting projects to thinking about research legacies. It offers a way in which research can help repair harms and promote justice.
Retellings: Opportunities for Feminist Research in Rhetoric and Composition Studies by
The contributors use the anniversary of the publication of Cheryl Glenn's Rhetoric Retold: Regendering the Tradition from Antiquity Through the Renaissance, the first book to examine women's contributions to rhetoric across history, as an opportune moment to assess feminist rhetorical research and test out new possibilities.
Transdisciplinary Feminist Research by
What is feminist transdisciplinary research? Why is it important? How do we do it? Through 19 contributions from leading international feminist scholars, this book provides new insights into activating transdisciplinary feminist theories, methods and practices in original, creative and exciting ways - ways that make a difference both to what research is and does, and to what counts as knowledge. The contributors draw on their own original research and engage an impressive array of contemporary theorising - including new materialism, decolonialism, critical disability studies, historical analyses, Black, Indigenous and Latina Feminisms, queer feminisms, Womanist Methodologies, trans studies, arts-based research, philosophy, spirituality, science studies and sports studies - to trouble traditional conceptions of research, method and praxis. The authors show how working beyond disciplinary boundaries, and integrating insights from different disciplines to produce new knowledge, can prompt important new transdisciplinarity thinking and activism in relation to ongoing feminist concerns about knowledge, power and gender. In doing so, the book attends to the multiple lineages of feminist theory and practice and seeks to bring these historical differences and intersections into play with current changes, challenges and opportunities in feminism. The book's practically-grounded examples and wide-ranging theoretical orbit are likely to make it an invaluable resource for established scholars and emerging researchers in the social sciences, arts, humanities, education and beyond.
Women's and gender studies research takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of gender, its function in cultures and societies, and its intersections with race and class. Research within women's and gender studies also often includes feminist theory, masculinities and men's studies, studies of sexualities, LGBTQI studies, and girlhood and boyhood studies.

For general research, check the Articles, Databases and Other Resources tab. Databases hold multiple resources, including scholarly articles. Articles are a good starting point for research. They frequently cite issues, books and other articles which can save you time. The Libraries hold several different indexes to help you find the articles you need.

The UF Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies
The Department offers academic programs, grants graduate and undergraduate degrees, and advances research in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. Faculty in the Department successfully compete for national fellowships and grants, win research and teaching awards, and produce rigorous and transformative research.
At the undergraduate level, the Department offers the BA in Women’s Studies along with options to concentrate in (a) Health Equity and Social Justice, (b) International Perspectives on Gender, (c) Race, Power, and Social Justice, and (d) Theories and Politics of Sexuality. The Department also offers undergraduate minors in (a) Health Disparities in Society, (b) Theories and Politics of Sexuality, and (c) Women’s Studies. At the graduate level, the Department offers the Master’s degree, accelerated BA/MA, joint MA/JD, concurrent degrees (e.g., MA/MPH), MA/PHD (e.g., MA in Women’s Studies, with PhD in another field), as well as Graduate Certificates in (a) Gender and Development and (b) Women’s Studies.

The Dean of Students Office offers additional resources and ways for students to be involved through LGBTQ Affairs and the Women's Student Association. The Tamara Cohen LGBTQ Resource Library is a collection of books available at the University of Florida's Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,Transgender and Queer Affairs. All of these materials are also searchable in the Smathers Libraries' Catalog Begin with an Advanced Search and then limit your search by Library to the UF LGBT Resource Library. Please check with the LGBTQ Affairs Office on check-out procedures.
Additionally, the Special & Area Studies Collections at the George A. Smathers Collections have many resources related to women's and gender studies. Many of these materials are not available elsewhere or online, so researchers may want to visit Special Collections or browse through the online finding aids that explain some of the many resources they hold.
