Genomics: Genomics at UF

Centers and Institutes

Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research (ICBR):  ICBR at UF houses Bioinformatics, Next-Gen Sequencing, as well as the Gene Expression and Genotyping core groups to help with your research endeavors.

The University of Florida Genetics Institute: "promotes and enhances interactive genetics research across the UF campus."

The Powell Gene Therapy Center: "merges molecular genetics research and health care delivery by developing new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of human diseases that involve gene transfer."

The Center for Pharmacogenomics  is a part of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Florida. Its main areas of focus are to "study the genetic basis of variability in drug efficacy and toxicity"; "investigation of disease-gene associations"; and "educate the University of Florida Health Science community on pharmacogenomics."

Personalized Medicine at UF PathLabs offers testing services to  assist referring physicians in understanding patients' genetic makeup and guide them in prescribing more effective treatments

Degree Programs

Genetics and Genomics Graduate Degree Program Part of the UF Genetics Institute - a multi-college, multi-faceted research center- this graduate program is designed to give students a solid, interdisciplinary foundation in the first year, with opportunities for specialization in the second year and beyond.

Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences (BMS) This graduate program emphasizes biomedical laboratory research with specialization in one of eight advanced concentrations: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Genetics, Immunology and Microbiology, Molecular Cell Biology, Neuroscience, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and Physiology and Functional Genomics.

Animal Molecular and Cellular Biology Graduate Program (AMCB) This interdisciplinary program prepares students to conduct research and teaching in animal agriculture and biotechnology across a broad range of animal species.  Research areas include Molecular Biology & Physiology, Animal Biotechnology, and Breeding & Genetics.

Plant Molecular and Cell Biology (PBCB) This interdisciplinary and interdepartmental graduate program prepares students for careers in plant biology and emphasizes understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms that mediate plant development, adaptation, and evolution.
