Scanning Equipment

  • PC using Windows XP or higher
  • Epson flatbed scanner
  • Adobe Photoshop Elements

Digital Archive Requirements

  • 8-bit Grayscale or 24-bit RGB Color (depending on whether original has significant color)
  • 300 dpi for standard text or 600 dpi for stand-alone images (photographs, maps)
  • Save archival files as uncompressed TIFFs

Setting Up Folder Structure

Create a Main Scanning folder and a folder for each item inside the Main Scanning folder.  All the scans for a particular item should then be saved in the appropriate folder.
