Cuban Exile Newspapers

As part of the U.S. Newspapers Project, the University of Florida Libraries, in cooperation with the University of Miami Libraries, microfilmed some 125 newspaper titles published from the 1960's through the 1990's, dealing with Cuban and Cuban American issues.

Jornais Operários

These rare titles are of great value to students of Brazilian labor history.

Overview

The University of Florida has an extensive collection of Latin American newspapers on microfilm, with special emphasis on the Caribbean area.  Microfilm titles may be viewed in the reading room of the Latin American and Caribbean Collection on the 3rd floor of Smathers East.

Some of the titles are major daily newspapers, and others are rare papers of special historical significance, such as the Cuban Exile Newspapers, and the Jornais Operários and the Jornais Diversos from Brazil.  The University of Florida continues to microfilm various newspapers from the Caribbean area in an effort to provide future researchers access to this valuable information.
