Digtial Children's and Young Adult Literature Resources

These children's and young adult literature resources have either opened access during this time of COVID-19 or are regularly open access.

In addition to these resources, The Children's Book Council has compiled a list of free publisher online resources offering a wealth of content to support educators, librarians, booksellers, parents, and caregiver from fiction to non-fiction, STEM books to graphic novels, and more.

International Children's Digtial Library
The ICDL's collection includes open access to 4619 books in 59 languages.
The Baldwin Library of Historical Children’s Literature
The Baldwin Library of Historical Children’s Literature contains more than 115,000 volumes published in the United States and Great Britain from the mid-1600s to present day.

The Internet Archive offers over 20,000,000 freely downloadable books and texts, including children's and young adult literature.

This special collection presents children’s books selected from the General and Rare Book Collections at the Library of Congress.

The National Emergency Library from the Internet Archive
The National Emergency Library from the Internet Archive is providing access until June 30th to many children's books.
Project Gutenberg Children's Bookshelf
Project Gutenberg is a library of over 60,000 free eBooks, including children's literature. You will find the world's great literature here, with focus on older works for which U.S. copyright has expired.

Unite for Literacy
Unite online library provides free access to more than 400 original picture books, one fourth of them written in Spanish. The digital books provide audio narrations in more than 40 languages, spoken by native speakers in warm, expressive voices.
Amazon Audible Books
No login or additional software required. All stories are free to stream on your desktop, laptop, phone, or tablet. Explore the collection, select a title, and start listening. End date unknown.
Arbordale Publishing
Arbordale ebooks are multilingual, and read-aloud in up to nine languages, with an additional bilingual feature. Readers needing assistance can use the speed control and word highlighting for help with pronunciation. Free access ends August 31, 2020.

Over 9,300 web-hosted eBooks offer curriculum-based, high-interest fiction and nonfiction content that meets with national and state curriculum standards, as well as Common Core standards.
