Library Support for Distance Learning: Home

This staff guide provides access to information regarding librarian involvement with distance education at UF.

Our Mission

Library support for distance learning initiatives is decentralized and currently relies on the subject specialists to forward the libraries' mission to specific distance learning programs/courses across campus.

Videoconferencing

Videoconferencing is available through Library West, room 229.  This room can be reserved through the reference desk.  The equipment in this room does not include the ability to "push" computer content (powerpoints, computer screen, etc.) and is only a camera and calling system.

Staff Providing Services for Distance Learning Programs

Below are the individuals who currently provide support for online and distance programs.

Health Science Center Library subject librarians

Legal Information Center - legal research faculty

George A. Smathers Libraries

N.B

Many colleges and programs have courses that are delivered fully online or as hybrid courses on campus.

Subject specialists may find it beneficial to meet with their colleges/programs to determine what online courses are being taught.  Review of the UF Distance Learning page can also be used to identify courses.
