EDGE - Electronic Delivery of Graduate Engineering: Access

Library Services for Distance Engineering Students

Off-campus access

For off-campus access to library-licensed e-Journals, research databases and e-resources, use either:

UF VPN - or - the library proxy server (on the remote logon page)

When you see Find@UF in your search results, click for access to digital full-text material.

Borrowing Materials

Distance learners may borrow regular loan print materials available at the main UF campus and materials not owned by the UF Libraries by using the online ILLiad form.  Requests are mailed or emailed to off-campus locations and arrive within one day to several weeks, depending on whether UF owns the item or whether it needs to be requested from another university. Review the Interlibrary Loan policies.

Faculty, staff and students may also use resources of other state college and university libraries in Florida. The Gator 1 Card acts as the ID card.

Connecting to E-Resources from Off Campus

Many library resources are limited to current UF faculty, students and staff. To use our electronic resources from off-campus you must first logon to our network. The UF VPN is highly recommended.

Course Reserves

Some instructors assign readings and place those materials on course reserve. Distance learners can use the electronic materials but hard copy items cannot be mailed. Students should place an interlibrary loan request for course reserves; some items can be borrowed from other consortial libraries.
