First Public Library Building in Gainesville, FLLocated at 419 East University Aveune, the library opened its doors in 1918 with funds acquired from the Carnegie Corporation.
One of the saddest acts in local library history, and for historic preservation in Gainesville, is the demolishment of this Carnegie Library in 1955.
