Search the Library Catalog (Books, E-books, Journals, Videos, & More):

Tips for finding books, exhibition catalogs, videos, etc.

Search the UF Libraries Catalog:

Basic Search

                        Anywhere (keywords can be anywhere in the record) Ex: matthew barney

                        Title (searches just in title field)

                        Journal Title (searches only in titles of journals, magazines, etc.)

                        Author (searches author field; first and last names can be in any order)

                        Subject Heading (searches only in very specific subject headings)

                        Series (search by a known series name) Ex: Oxford History of Art

                        ISBN, ISSN, OCLC, etc. (search by known standard numbers)

                        Call number (when you know call number or part of it) 

Search begins with (browse)

                        Title (when you know exact title or start of a title; omit beginning a, an, the)

                        Author (must be in last name, first name order) Ex: rothenberg susan

                        Call Number (when you want to browse within certain call numbers)

                        Series (browse by a known series name)    

Advanced Search

Use to combine keyword searches across fields (like Anywhere, Title, Author, etc.)

and limit searches according to Location, Format, Language, and year(s) Published

Browsing Guide

In general, most of the art-related books at the AFA Library are classified using the Library of Congress classification scheme of N through NX.

Book call numbers starting AM through N are on the library's main floor:

Followed by call numbers NA through Z on the upstairs mezzannine:
