Friends of the Library Book Sale

Don't miss the Friends of the Library (FOL) Book Sale on April 26-30, 2025

Can you believe the line starts forming at 5 am (even earlier some years) for the opportunity to buy used books? If you are a book lover, 430 North Main Street in Gainesville on Saturday morning, April 26 is the place to be for the largest book sale of its kind in Florida. Hundreds of people line up around the block for the opportunity to be one of the first inside. More than 500,000 books, records, games, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, paintings, posters, prints, puzzles and magazines have been donated for the sale. Every genre including classical and modern fiction, textbooks, cookbooks, children's books, travel, how-to and hobby books, and comics. Most prices range from $0.25 to $4.00. For treasure hunters, there's a Collector's Corner with rare and first editions. And all profits are used for the Alachua County Library District and for community literacy projects. For more information go to the FOL website.
