Putting the UpToDate App on Mobile Devices

Connect to the UF Network via the VPN through the Cisco AnyConnect App

While on the UF Network, go to your internet browser and navigate to UpToDate through the UF HSC Library databases page

Using this link connects you to UF’s UpToDate license https://library.health.ufl.edu/find/databases/

Using the orange “Register” button, create your own personal UpToDate account

This account does not need to be your Gatorlink login information.

Install the UpToDate app to your mobile device and sign in to the app using your own personal UpToDate account

You will need to connect to UpToDate while on the UF Network every 6 months to verify a continued connection to UF.

Useful Databases for Evidence Synthesis Reviews

Users must sign up with UF email account. Covidence is a web-based software platform that streamlines the production of systematic reviews, including Cochrane Reviews. The key steps in systematic reviews supported by Covidence are Citation screening, Full text review, Risk of Bias assessment, Extraction of study characteristics and outcomes, and Export of data and references into citation management programs.

For systematic reviews, note PubMed as PubMed/MEDLINE to explicitly address the search of MEDLINE.

For a systematic review, Embase offers balance to PubMed/MEDLINE (addressing database bias) and includes conference proceedings (addressing publication bias)

The Preconception Care mobile app was developed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and provides healthcare team members with information that supports the integration of preconception care into comprehensive primary care, thereby optimizing the health of women and their children.
American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)

This app created by ACOG aims to help OB/GYN healthcare providers stay up-to-date in their field with authoritative information from leading experts. The app includes clinical guidelines, patient education materials, immunization charts, as well as publications and events from ACOG itself.
Medrills: Obstetrical Emergencies

This app is designed to provide training and self-testing for medical students, residents and those who want to review obstetrical emergencies. Users learn how to assess for and treat breech births, prolapsed cords, and limp presentations. There is also training on emergencies involving the mother, such as excessive bleeding, trauma in pregnancy, and eclampsia.
