Undergraduate Library Advisor Program- George A. Smathers Libraries

Tabling for the Smathers Libraries

ULAs helping with outreach at a tabling event play a vital role in engaging with the community and promoting library services. They provide information about library resources, upcoming events, and available programs, such as reading initiatives, workshops, and educational activities. These assistants interact with event attendees, answering questions, distributing promotional materials, and encouraging people to sign up for library memberships or events. They are enthusiastic and approachable, creating a welcoming atmosphere for individuals of all ages. Their efforts help raise awareness of the library's offerings and foster stronger connections between the library and the community.

In Spring of 2024, Sophia Medina developed and hosted the George A. Smathers Libraries Reading Room at UF's SwampCon, where visitors had the unique opportunity to browse sci-fi books and comics from the library’s collection and check out materials if they were affiliated with the university.
