Film & Television
Collection Development Parameters: Films made by Black creators (e.g. directors, writers, and/or producers) with predominately Black casts and/or actors in lead roles; Film adaptations of works by Black authors; Popular film or television shows of Black cultural significance; Documentaries addressing history, culture, politics, and social issues pertaining to Black people and/or told from African American, African, and Caribbean perspectives. The Collection is largely concentrated on African American film but seeks to include diverse Global African experiences, perspectives, and stories as expressed through the medium of film.
Film Literature
Secondary scholarly works addressing Black film and media from interdisciplinary perspectives, focusing on criticism, theory, and analysis.
