We Need Diverse Books is a non-profit and grassroots organization of children’s book lovers that advocates essential changes in the publishing industry with the aim to help produce and promote literature that reflects and honors the lives of all young people.

A vital gathering place for books, ideas and expertise, the CCBC is committed to identifying excellent literature for children and adolescents. The CCBC compiles annual statistics on the number of books published by and about people of color and from First/Native Nations. Beginning in 2018, the CCBC began documenting numbers around other aspects of diversity and representation in children's and young adult literature, including LGBTQ, and (Dis)Ability.
