Engineering Education & Research

This guide provides you with resources to support engineering education practice and research.

Authorship

How is collaborative research defined in your discipline?

  • It's important to establish roles and authorship at the beginning of a project, and create partnering agreements.
  • Who should be the authors of your article (remember this includes students!), and who merits acknowledgement rather than authorship?
  • Consider the widely-recognized standards like NISO's CReditT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy), which can help you define the different contributor roles.

Managing Your References

These programs will save you hours--literally!--of time. Citation management software can store all your articles and reformat them to meet the requirements of just about any journal. Just remember to proofread your works cited (or bibliography or references) page in case a citation wasn't formed properly in a database.
