ADRELA is an interdisciplinary, transnational scholarly collective that supports digital research related to colonial and nineteenth-century Latin America. The site provides a list of related digital projects.

The GAM historical archive is an effort to rescue millions of documents which contain testimonies from the victims of humans rights violations during the Guatemalan Internal Armed Conflict. This archive looks to give virtual access to a collection of documents which narrate the events lived by the victims during this period. Content is published in English and Spanish.

This project (available in English and Spanish) explores the "sugar curtain" and Cuba-U.S. relations since Cuba’s 1959 Revolution and the human impact of that divide.

Borderlands Archives Cartography (BAC) was founded in 2017 by borderland natives Maira E. Álvarez and Sylvia A. Fernández. BAC is a project that consists of a digital map which displays a U.S.-Mexico border newspapers cartography that records geographic locations of nineteenth and mid-twentieth century periodicals.

A collaborative research project built as a result of journeys within Caribbean communities throughout the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Pacific Northwest region. Hosted through University of Oregon, created by Dr. Ana-Maurine Lara and Dr. Alaí Reyes-Santos.

Caribmap is A cartographic history of Caribbean islands. It is a mobile-friendly resource for exploring historical map images of Caribbean islands. The site has evolved since 1999 and now presents images of approximately 1800 maps of the islands printed over five centuries (16th–20th). This is still a small sampling of the thousands of different maps that were printed.

Collection of 36 chromo trade cards produced by Spanish company Chocolates E. Juncosa. The cards depict the Cuban War of Independence (1895-1898) and the beginning of the Spanish-American War. The project includes map and timeline visualizations.

Ciudad Letrada. La Gazeta de México y la difusión de la cultura impresa en México durante el siglo XVIII. This database allows users to identify titles and other specific data of books and periodicals through announcements of new publications for sale printed on the pages of the Mexico CIty periodical La Gazeta de Mexico during the years 1722, 1728-1742, and 1784-1809.

This is an extensive collection documenting the tragic period of terrorism and political violence that plagued Peru in the late twentieth century.The collection, compiled by Gustavo Gorriti Ellenbogen during his years as an investigative journalist during the period, consists of a vast array of documents including political brochures, flyers, reports from political organizations, periodical publications, newspaper clippings, personal documentation, books and literature of the time.

This project enhances access to the Digital Library of the Caribbean (dLOC)'s existing Caribbean newspaper collections by making texts available for bulk download to its users.

An Island Luminous is a site about Haiti’s history. Created by historian Adam M. Silvia and hosted online by Digital Library of the Caribbean, An Island Luminous combines rare books, manuscripts, and photos scanned by archives and libraries in Haiti and the United States with commentary by over one hundred (100) authors from universities around the world.

HOSLAC is a comprehensive database of primary sources on the history of science in Latin America and the Caribbean. The site, launched in January 2010, provides a virtual archive of over 200 primary sources along with introductions based on the latest scholarly findings. We hope the database will be useful for teaching, research, or general interest purposes for viewers curious about the history of science in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The site aims to serve as an online bibliography that points scholars to resources for the study of sports and recreational activities across the continent.

This website is a digital resource for accessing information and discussions about Latin American politics and society. The materials are organized into six main themes or categories: (i) pre-20th century history; (ii) politics and democracy, (iii) states and the law, (iv) development and the environment, (v) gender, race and ethnicity, and (vi) culture and identity. The website also provides access to a comprehensive list of reports, data sources, news and media outlets, organizations, and country studies.

Through Latino Genealogy & Beyond, Dr. Ellen Fernandez-Sacco aims to share culturally relevant information and history regarding POC genealogy. With this project, Dr. Fernandez-Sacco attempts to decolonize family histories through context and deep dives into archival research

The map Includes profiles for the selected newspaper titles from Florida, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Additionally, it provides access to descriptive essays that help contextualize the chosen newspaper titles.

This blog was created as Yilin Andre Wang’s final project for “Panama Silver, Asian Gold: Migration and the Birth of Modern Caribbean Literature,” a tri-institutional course at Amherst College, University of Miami, and University of Florida-Gainesville in Fall 2013. This project is an effort to explore the progression of literary representations of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in the Anglophone Caribbean over time.

A free, open-access Spanish language curriculum for teachers that centers Blackness in Latin America and Black language learners. It was developed as a multi-institutional collaborative project, with funding from the NEH.

Migration, Mobility, & Sustainability was an institute funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities designed to give participants experience incorporating tools and openly accessible collections for developing a community of practice around digital pedagogy and teaching. This web publication highlights the work or the institute participants, including some of their digital humanities projects.

This project was led by Isis Campos and developed at the US Latino Digital Humanities program (USLDH) at the University of Houston's Recovering the US Hispanic Literary Heritage/Arte Público Press.

This is a queer, bilingual, feminist experiment in digital interdisciplinary scholarship that uses the lens of fashion and material culture to trace the aesthetic, social, and political reverberations of the Haitian Revolution as a world-historical moment. Rendering Revolution focuses on stories of self-fashioning that rarely receive attention in colonial archives and explores the many ways in which modern identities (and concepts such as human rights) were formed in relation to the legacy of slavery in the Americas.

Stolen Relations is a tribal collaborative database project that seeks to understand settler colonialism and its impact through the lens of Indigenous enslavement and unfreedom. NEH funded and supported by the Center for Digital Scholarship at Brown University.

Transnational Dominican Activism focuses on Dominican activism in the cities of New York, Santo Domingo, and Santiago, and is the culmination of the work by photographers, writers, artists, and activists who have captured transnational Dominican activism between 2009 and 2020. This exhibit provides a glimpse into one aspect of Dominican culture as documented by the digital media platform ESENDOM

The blog for a historic newspaper project that digitizes newspapers from Florida, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The project is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, in partnership with the Library of Congress.

Visualizing Caribbean Literature (VCL) is an interactive database of more than 3,000 literary works about the Caribbean experience or by writers identifying as Caribbean people. The database includes authors and titles that represents the diversity of the body of work that is Caribbean literature in language, genre, author country of origin and publication location and institution. The project also represents works in translation from the authors included in the visualizations.

This free online database, housed at Emory University, incorporates 40 years of archival research and brings together images, maps, voyage logs and other records of about 35,000 transatlantic slave ship crossings. The site’s African Names Databases identifies 67,000 Africans, bound for slavery in North and South America, but liberated after their ships were stopped by the Royal Navy. These records are sortable by name, gender origin, and place of embarkation.

‘We Choose Freedom’: Documenting African American Presence in the Dominican Republic is a digital archives that recovers, preserves and makes available treasured records of the past. It contains a collection of rare and delicate archival documents pertaining to African Americans that arrived in 1824 from different ports along the Eastern United States to Samaná, Dominican Republic. The documents include books of baptisms, marriage certificates, as well as notes of church meetings, collective decisions and other random papers from Mother Bethel African Methodist Episcopal and St. Peter's Evangelical Churches in Samaná that document the lives of this Afro diasporic community ranging from 1909-1970.

This project is a dataset created by the University of Houston’s US Latino Digital Humanities Center (USLDH). The dataset was created from 288 indexed periodicals and demonstrates the activity of Hispanic women writers, including poetry, short stories, essays, serialized fiction, literary notices, speeches, travel writing, interviews and more.
