Program and Collection Information
The Philosophy Department at the University of Florida offers undergraduate study in philosophy at the major and minor levels and graduate study at the M.A. and Ph.D. levels. Areas of focus include Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy, Ancient Philosophy, Early Modern Philosophy, Modern Philosophy, Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Science, Environmental Philosophy, Metaphysics, Sexuality and Gender Studies, Freud, Kant, and Rousseau.
The main collection of UF’s Philosophy materials is in the Humanities and Social Sciences Library (Library West). The Special Collections Department (Smathers Library) also houses a substantial collection of rare texts.
This collection is first and foremost built around the research needs of faculty and students of the UF Philosophy Department. Requests for materials are welcome and encouraged, and should be sent to the Philosophy Librarian Megan Daly.
