Please join us in celebrating the launch of digital access to the Recordings of Burning Spear Media: 30 Years of Voices from the Uhuru Movement
The George A. Smathers Libraries at the University of Florida will host an event to launch its new digital collection "Recordings of Burning Spear Media: 30 Years of Voices from the Uhuru Movement" from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. (EDT) on Thursday, April 10, 2025 in Smathers Library Room 100 on UF's main campus. A portion of the event will also be livestreamed from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
The launch event will include a demonstration of how to use the collection and talks by UF Faculty members. Dr. Rachel Grant, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the College of Journalism and Communication. Dr. David Canton, PhD, is the Director of the African American Studies Program and Associate Professor of History. The program will be introduced by Akilé Anai, Editor-in-Chief of The Burning Spear newspaper and Manager of Burning Spear Media.
