When you need to find information quickly at the point-of-care, here are some resources to help:

UpToDate, a clinical support tool available through UF, helps clinicians make the best care decisions and stay abreast of contemporary standards in the workflow and on-the-go. UpToDate is the only resource associated with improved patient outcomes and hospital performance, and studies show that clinicians who use UpToDate change their decisions 30 percent of the time. More than 6,900 world-renowned physician authors, editors, and reviewers use a rigorous editorial process to synthesize the most recent medical information into trusted, evidence-based recommendations. Every day, clinicians view topics covering 25 specialties over 1.5 million times.

PubMed Clinical Queries provides access to specialized PubMed searches designed to quickly connect clinicians with evidence-based clinical literature. There are three EBM search options - for clinical studies, systematic reviews, and medical genetics.

Apps for E-books

Access Medicine
The mobile version of AccessMedicine provides access to several medical textbooks, diagnostic tools, drug monographs, and more through the library's subscription to AccessMedicine. You must set up a My AccessMedicine account to access it from your mobile device. There is no downloadable app, but if you log in to the mobile website from your device, you can add it to your home screen/applications.

This app provides access to eBooks through the library's subscription to STAT!Ref including Essential Evidence (EE+), AHFS Drug Essentials, Davis's Drug Guide for Nurses, and more.

Clinical Apps

UpToDate App
UpToDate, a clinical support tool available through UF, offers an app to provide better evidence-based clinical diagnosis tools. You will need to create an UpToDate account from within the web application (while connected to the VPN or on a campus computer), and use it to log in to the app. After logging in to the app the first time, the UpToDate app will remain logged in to your account for easier access in the future.
PubMed Mobile
This is the mobile version of PubMed and provides a view of the "more than 22 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Citations may include links to full-text content from PubMed Central and publisher websites."
PubMed for Handhelds
PubMed for Handhelds (PubMed4Hh) is an app for discovering relevant health information at the National Library of Medicine. Journal abstracts, TBLs ("the bottom line" summaries) and full text articles (requires subscription to journals) can be accessed anywhere the Internet is available. It features: - PICO (Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome): search with a well-formulated clinical query. - askMEDLINE: a free-text, natural language search tool. - Consensus Abstracts: Search using PICO or askMEDLINE then select concurring abstracts from journals. View selected TBLs and Abstracts in one page. - CQs: Use Clinical Queries to search journal articles. Indicate Category (therapy, diagnosis, etiology, prognosis, clinical predictions guideline) and Emphasis (specific, sensitive) to focus search strategy. - Journal Browser: read the latest abstracts and TBLs of MEDLINE indexed journals.- Archive: save search results for reading later. - Retrieved citations may be sent by e-mail from any of the featured tools.
Micromedex Drug Reference
Micromedex offers Drug Reference, Drug Interactions, and IV Compatibility apps for Apple and Android devices. These apps are free to UF users. To set up the app, follow the linked instructions or click on the Download Center tab in the upper right corner of the screen on the web version of the database. You will need to be on the UF network or logged into the VPN on your computer to access the set up instructions. You will need to use the password given in the setup instructions below. You will have to update the password annually. There are separate instructions, including a login and password, which expire quarterly, for tablets.
Essential Evidence Plus
EE+, a resource UF provides through Stat!Ref, offers evidence-based clinical support similar to UpToDate. After creating a login with Stat!Ref, you will have access to the mobile web version of EE+, which can then be saved on your phone screen.

UFApps

U FApps provides access to software applications from any computing device--laptops, tablets, desktops, and smartphones--from any location, at any time. Includes SAS, SPSS, and R for statistics.

Apps for Patient Education

MedlinePlus
MedlinePlus provides health information for patients and families. The mobile website covers diseases, conditions, medications, wellness topics, and the latest health news. It is available in both English and Spanish.
