Learning objectives, from a learner-centered and performance-related perspective, refer to the skills learners will develop after completing the video tutorial. For example, if you wish your learners will know how to create personal libraries in Zotero after watching your instructional video, one of your learning objectives could be “Create a personal library using Zotero.” Here are some additional tips to consider as you create your learning objectives and develop your instructional videos:
Use verbs that are easy to observe and/or measure (e.g., create, define, list). Verbs such as “understand” are not easy to assess.
Align your learning objectives, content, and learning activities.
Use fewer learning objectives (e.g., 2 or 3) if you are creating short videos, so you can cover all of them without rushing through the content.
