Introduction

Now that you have reviewed the assignment instructions let's start thinking about your topic. Which track are you most interested in? Do you already have an idea for a topic?

Topic Exploration

If you are not sure you can search generally in a few of our databases or in Google to explore topic ideas. NOTE: In order to search in the UF Library make sure you have the VPN installed and active.

The following databases are a great place to explore issues:

Once you have your topic you will need to think about which keywords you can use to search in the library resources. Unlike a Google search where you could just type in your topic, the UF Library PRIMO search, databases, and digital archives use keywords in their searches.

How to Choose Keywords?

Start by making a list of keywords by identifying the main concepts of your topic.

Example:

  • Topic: How did No Child Left Behind impact education in the U.S.?
  • Keywords: No Child Left Behind, education, United States

Then consider related terms.

  • Related terms: K-12, elementary school, middle school, high school, elementary education, secondary education, U.S., America
