Students hired as Stack Management student assistants are responsible for maintaining the collection in the stacks of Marston Science Library. Student assistants re-shelve materials on the 2nd-5th floors, perform shelf reading to make sure that books are in their proper places on the shelves, and keep the stacks neat and tidy.
THIS JOB IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO THE LIBRARY AND LIBRARY PATRONS.
If materials are out of order, then the library becomes difficult for both patrons and employees to use. If materials are not returned to the shelves promptly--usually in a 24-hour period--then users become dissatisfied.
