Index to the Florida Ephemera Collection
The Florida Ephemera Collection contains promotional brochures and publications and is organized in sections in 260 binders: Cities (2,502 items); Railroads, Hotels, Steamships and Bus Lines (including the Florida East Coast and Plant systems) (700 items); State Publications on Tourism, Immigration and Agriculture (260 items); Guides, Maps, View Books, Postcards, Letters (950 items); Hotels, Motels and Restaurants (823 items); Attractions (1,789 items); Illustrated Adventure Stories (13 items); and Government Documents and Miscellaneous Materials (no count). Date span is approximately from the end of the Civil War to about 1980.
The index for the collection is an Excel spreadsheet that can be downloaded and used for simple keyword searching. It provides the title, date, and abstract of each item; its geographical affiliation; and the type of material it represents (leaflet, letter, postcard, souvenir - see the glossary for terms and definitions). Content was created by student assistant Christine Reynolds (2020), graduate research assistants Rachel Laue (2021) and Catherine Stiefel (2022) and archives assistant Myla Wasser (2025).
