Library Technology Services: New UFDC Searching

Resources from Library Technology Services, for library employees

New UFDC Searching

This is a draft page, to be replaced by a new resource from the Resource Discovery Committee.

The main search on the new UFDC (and also dLOC and Florida Digital Newspaper Library) sites will search both metadata and full text. The search uses prioritization and relevance for results.

Click on "Refine Search" for Advanced Search options and to refine your search.

To see all issues of a particular title:

  • Go to the top bar and select "Titles" (if in the Florida Digital Newspaper Library) or "Title Sets" in UFDC and dLOC.
  • Use the left-side filter to search for the title
  • Click on the title you want to see, in the list to the right of the filter
  • This page is now all issues within that title.
    • From this new page, you can search all issues.
    • Please note, the default sort for this page will be updated to be oldest to newest publication date. This will be in place in Q1 of 2022.
    • Please note that the original site is always available: https://original-ufdc.uflib.ufl.edu/

From an individual issue of a newspaper, you can click on "All Volumes" to get back to the same listing of all issues for that title. Example.

When on the "All Volumes" page, you can click on "refine search" to apply additional search parameters for that single title. For example, Advanced Search now includes searching by date range.
