Cataloging Guidelines for the State of Florida University System
and State College System Bibliographic Database
The George A. Smathers Libraries are part of the State University System of Florida Libraries shared bibliographic catalog. As such we follow cataloging guidelines established by statewide committees. The Cataloging Guidelines for the State of Florida University System and State College System Bibliographic Database are a compilation of recommendations and best practices to ensure consistency of MARC data input and enable uniform modifications of data for indexing and display in current and future statewide discovery tools.
The Technical Services Standing Committee Cataloging Standards Subcommittee has produced this set of simplified guidelines that incorporates the needs of the state colleges.
