Licensing and Public Performance Rights Language for

DVDs and Streaming Videos (ALMA)

All bib records for video recordings (discs and streaming formats) must have a 596 local extension field stating the nature of the viewing rights currently licensed to the library for that title. Each purchased DVD/Blu-ray should include a paper slip provided by the Acquisitions Department that clearly states the nature of the licensing currently held by the library. There are three types of purchased viewing rights which are listed below under the letters A, B & C. A 596 local extension field with the text from A, B or C must be accompanied by a 590 local extension field containing the text UFPPR. The last licensing statement, D, is the default entry typically used for gifts. This entry does not require the addition of a 590. Below is a list of the four licensing statements:

  1. This film is free of copyright and other restrictions and may be shown or digitized without additional permission or license.
