SUL Guidelines and Procedures for the Shared Bibliographic Catalog

The George A. Smathers Libraries are part of the State University System of Florida Libraries shared bibliographic catalog. As such we follow cataloging guidelines established by statewide committees. The SUL Guidelines and Procedures for the Shared Bibliographic Catalog are a compilation of recommendations and best practices to ensure consistency of MARC data input and enable uniform modifications of data for indexing and display in current and future statewide discovery tools. Here is the link to the guidelines for the university libraries:

The Technical Services Standing Committee Cataloging Standards Subcommittee has produced a set of simplified guidelines that incorporates the needs of the state colleges. This document applies to both the university libraries and the college libraries.
